Inside Stonebriar
Stonebriar is the area of south Frisco around Stonebriar Country Club and Stonebriar Centre, near Preston Road and the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121). The heart of it is the guard-gated Stonebriar neighborhood around the private club, which opened in 1988 with one course and now has 36 holes, including a Tom Fazio course that opened in 2000. Homes there date from 1988 into the 2000s, and recent listings range from about $820,000 to over $2 million. It fits buyers who want an established, gated golf community close to Stonebriar Centre, Legacy and the tollways.
The lesson here is that schools do not follow the city name. The gated Stonebriar sections are in Frisco but in Denton County and Lewisville ISD (Hicks Elementary, Arbor Creek Middle, Hebron High on recent listings), not Frisco ISD. Homes from the late 1980s and 1990s also deserve a careful look at roofs, windows, plumbing and foundations, and with my remodeling background I help buyers price those updates before they negotiate.
