Adriatica Village is a mixed-use village in McKinney that developer Jeff Blackard modeled on the seaside town of Supetar on the Croatian island of Brac, with work starting in 2005. The village directory lists shopping, dining, professional offices and event venues alongside places to live: George Fuller Custom Homes, Bell Tower Flats and Bell Tower Reserve senior living.
The lesson for buyers: in a mixed-use village you are buying the walkability, and you are also buying the noise, events and parking that come with it. Visit on a Friday night and a Saturday morning before you commit, and ask about any village association fees and rules on top of the purchase price.
