The city approved its zoning in 2021, Hines announced it in 2022, and Starwood Land bought it from Hines in April 2025. Community Impact and recent listings place Aster Park in Prosper ISD, while one builder page in the community lists Celina ISD campuses, and McKinney's northwest side is split among several districts.
