Old Lake Highlands, Dallas

Old Lake Highlands is an East Dallas neighborhood of around 1,700 homes inside the triangle formed by Lake Highlands Drive, Northwest Highway and White Rock Lake, right next to the lake and its marina. Homes range from about 80 years old to new construction on teardown lots, and parks line the creeks that feed the lake, including Norbuck Park at Buckner Boulevard and Northwest Highway. The neighborhood association brought together former sections such as Lake Highlands Estates, Lake Terrace, Lake Highlands Pointe, Bel Aire Estates and Park Highlands.

The lesson here is not to confuse it with Lake Highlands to the north. Old Lake Highlands is zoned to Dallas ISD schools such as Hexter Elementary, Hill Middle and Bryan Adams High, while most of Lake Highlands north of Northwest Highway is in Richardson ISD, and the two names sound alike. Before you compare prices or tax bills, I confirm the school district on the appraisal record, because it changes both who your buyers are and what you pay each year.
