Why Flower Mound

Denton County (small part in Tarrant County)

Flower Mound is a town of about 79,540 people (July 2025 Census estimate), almost entirely in Denton County with a small part in Tarrant County, and Grapevine Lake forms much of its southern edge. It is a homeowner town: the Census puts the owner-occupied rate at 82.5%, the median owner-occupied home value at $560,200 and the median household income at $161,235 (2020-2024 ACS). FM 2499 (Long Prairie Road) and FM 1171 (Cross Timbers Road) carry most local traffic toward SH 121, I-35E and DFW Airport.

The lesson in Flower Mound is that the ZIP and the school district change the math more than the town name does. In February 2026 the median sold price was $750,000 in 75022 but $494,000 in 75028, and homes in 75028 averaged 63 days on market versus 49 in 75022 (MetroTex data via Community Impact). Tax rates also differ by district, from about 1.65% in Lewisville ISD to about 1.73% in Argyle ISD for 2026, so compare homes on full monthly cost, not list price alone.

Before you buy or sell

Buying here

Check which of the five school districts a Flower Mound address is in before you tour it, because the district changes both the campuses and the tax rate. If you are weighing new construction in the western part of town against resale near Long Prairie Road, compare the full monthly payment, including any HOA, and the drive time to SH 121 at rush hour.

Selling here

In February 2026 the average days on market ran about 49 in 75022 and 63 in 75028, so a Flower Mound listing needs to be priced and prepared to compete from the first weekend. Many homes here are 1990s and 2000s construction, and buyers comparing them to new builds in Canyon Falls, Brookview or Havenwood will focus on roof age, HVAC, windows and foundation. Addressing those items, with receipts, before you list usually protects your price better than a cosmetic remodel.
