Paloma Creek is a 1,200 acre master-planned community along the US 380 corridor, just west of the Dallas North Tollway, near Lake Lewisville. Most of it is unincorporated Denton County, split into two census places: Paloma Creek north of 380 and Paloma Creek South, though some South Paloma Creek homes and commercial areas fall inside Little Elm town limits. It fits buyers who want an established neighborhood with three amenity centers and resale homes rather than a builder sales office.
The lesson here is to read the tax bill line by line. Because most of Paloma Creek is outside city limits, water and sewer come through Denton County Fresh Water Supply Districts instead of a city, and those districts can levy their own tax. Two homes on similar streets can carry different taxing entities, so ask for the prior year tax statement on any home you are considering and compare total cost, not just list price.
