What the Lone Star zone actually covers

Lone Star High School sits at 2606 Panther Creek Parkway in Frisco (75033) and opened in 2010. The Rangers enrolled 1,924 students in 2025-26, according to TEA enrollment data published by the Texas Tribune, down from a peak of 2,254 in 2021-22. That puts it in the middle of the pack for Frisco ISD and inside the UIL 5A enrollment band.

The zone itself surprises a lot of buyers. When I placed every address in Frisco ISD's 2026-27 zone file inside Census ZIP code boundaries, about 55% of the Lone Star addresses landed in Frisco's 75033 and about 45% in 75068, the ZIP code most people know as Little Elm. So a listing that says "Little Elm" can still be a Lone Star house, and the mailing city alone does not tell you which city, if any, taxes the home.

Zones in Frisco ISD follow the exact address and are reviewed every year, and the district says its own search tool is not 100% accurate. Before you fall in love with a house, run it through Frisco ISD's School Zone Search and then confirm with the campus at 469.633.5300. I pull the zoning for every address before we write an offer, because in this zone the elementary and middle school can change from one section of a neighborhood to the next.

Feeder pattern

Four middle schools, six elementaries

Stafford Middle (about 43% of addresses)

The largest feeder. In the Lone Star zone, Stafford draws from Phillips, Robertson and part of Boals Elementary. Stafford also sends a share of its zone to Panther Creek High, so a Stafford address is not automatically a Lone Star address.

Trent Middle (about 35%)

Fed by most of Boals Elementary and part of Newman Elementary. Trent is split three ways at the high school level: Lone Star, Memorial and Panther Creek all receive Trent students depending on the street.

Cobb Middle (about 12%)

Fed by Corbell Elementary on the Lone Star side. Most of Cobb's zone goes on to Wakeland High, so check the high school line, not just the middle school, on a Cobb address.

Griffin Middle (about 10%)

Fed by Purefoy Elementary in this zone. Griffin feeds four different high schools in 2026-27 (Wakeland, Memorial, Frisco and Lone Star), the widest spread of any Frisco ISD middle school in the district file.

Elementary schools

Boals is the biggest elementary in the zone (about 2,500 addresses), followed by Phillips, Robertson, Corbell, Purefoy and Newman. Every one of those except Boals also serves addresses that go to a different high school.

What changed for 2026-27

Comparing the district's 2025-26 and 2026-27 zone files, no address moved into or out of Lone Star at the high school level. As of October 2026 I found no announced Lone Star boundary change for 2027-28.

Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods we checked against the zone file

<a href="/neighborhoods/grayhawk">Grayhawk</a>

A 2026 listing address on Mondovi Drive returns Boals Elementary, Stafford Middle and Lone Star High in the 2026-27 zone data. Grayhawk is large and built in phases, so other sections can land at Trent instead of Stafford.

<a href="/neighborhoods/christie-ranch">Christie Ranch</a>

A listing address on Chenault Drive returns Boals Elementary, Trent Middle and Lone Star High. Christie Ranch mixes 2006 resales with newer construction, which is a useful way to compare age and price inside one zone.

The Little Elm side

The 75068 portion of the zone is about 2,700 address points. Those homes are Frisco ISD for school purposes, but the city, county services and tax units depend on the exact parcel. Read the taxing units on the Denton Central Appraisal District record before you compare payments.

A neighborhood missing here is not outside the zone; it just means I have not tested a verified address there yet. Send me the address and I will run it. To compare zones side by side, see Frisco homes by high school and our Frisco ISD school zones guide.

Campus life

Programs and recent results

Band

In September 2026 the Foundation for Music Education named the Lone Star Wind Symphony a national winner of its 2026 Mark of Excellence in two categories (Class AAAAA and the New Music Division), and the Lone Star Wind Ensemble a national winner of the Citation of Excellence for non-varsity groups.

Athletics

For 2026-28 Lone Star plays basketball and volleyball in District 6-5A with Panther Creek and Reedy, while the other eight 5A Frisco ISD schools are in District 11-5A. That means the west side campuses see each other often.

Academics

Frisco ISD's list of 120 National Merit Semifinalists for 2027, released in September 2026, included one Lone Star student. Lone Star students can also take classes at the district's Career and Technical Education Center, which serves every Frisco ISD high school.

Getting to school

Lone Star, Stafford, Trent and Griffin were on the district's October 2026 list of campuses offering fare-based busing ($500 per student for 2026-27, $175 on free or reduced meals) for students who do not qualify for regular bus service. Cobb was not on that list.

Read with care
ZIP figures cover every home in the ZIP, including streets outside Frisco ISD. In 75068 many homes are in Little Elm ISD, so the Lone Star share of that ZIP is only part of the number. Use them for direction, then compare closed sales in the specific neighborhood.
