Frisco ISD, with a McKinney address
Emerson High School opened in 2021 at 6300 Collin McKinney Parkway in McKinney (75070). It is the only Frisco ISD high school with a McKinney address. The Mavericks enrolled 828 students in their first year and 1,853 in 2025-26, according to TEA data published by the Texas Tribune. TEA shows 14.8 students per teacher in 2024-25.
When I placed the addresses in Frisco ISD's 2026-27 zone file inside Census ZIP boundaries, every Emerson address landed in 75070. So every home in this zone has a McKinney ZIP code, and many buyers are surprised to learn it is a Frisco ISD zone. The tax bill reflects that mix: the school rate is Frisco ISD's, while the city rate depends on the city named on the appraisal record.
Zones follow the exact address, and Frisco ISD says its School Zone Search is not 100% accurate. Start with the Collin Central Appraisal District record to confirm the school district, then run the address through the district tool and confirm with Emerson at 469.633.8100. I check both before we write an offer, because homes in different school districts can sit close together here.
Emerson High by the numbers
A K-4, 5-6, 7-8 path for the whole zone
The zone file lists Comstock, Elliott and Ogle as K-4 campuses, plus part of Isbell. Comstock is the largest (about 3,000 addresses), followed by Elliott (about 2,400) and Ogle (about 1,700).
Every Emerson-zone address is assigned to Wortham Intermediate at 7404 Kickapoo Drive in McKinney for fifth and sixth grade. Wortham opened in 2023.
Scoggins, at 7070 Stacy Road in McKinney, serves seventh and eighth grade for the same zone and sends its whole zone to Emerson.
Families here change campuses after 4th, 6th and 8th grade instead of after 5th and 8th, as in most of Frisco ISD. If you are moving with a fourth or sixth grader, plan for a new building the following year.
No address moved into or out of Emerson at the high school level between the district's 2025-26 and 2026-27 zone files, and the Staley closure did not affect this zone. I found no announced Emerson boundary change for 2027-28 as of October 2026.
Neighborhoods we checked against the zone file
Listing addresses on Pebble Ridge Drive, Black Gold Drive and Brownstone Drive return Elliott Elementary, Wortham Intermediate, Scoggins Middle and Emerson High in the 2026-27 zone data. Brookstone is a southwest McKinney neighborhood of mid 2000s homes.
About 500 Emerson-zone addresses are assigned to Isbell Elementary, a campus whose larger zone feeds Liberty High. Those families follow the Wortham and Scoggins path to Emerson.
Homes a short drive away can be in a different school district, with its own campuses and tax rate. The school district on the appraisal record is the first thing to check, before you compare schools or prices.
I add neighborhoods only after testing a real address against the district's 2026-27 data. Send me the address and I will check all four levels. To compare zones side by side, see Frisco homes by high school and our Frisco ISD school zones guide.
Programs and practical details
Emerson announced 22 National Merit Commended Students and three Semifinalists in October 2026. Emerson students also have access to the district's Career and Technical Education Center, which serves every Frisco ISD high school.
The campus recognizes Mavericks of the Month under its motto, Be Bold, Be First, Be Curious, and in fall 2026 hosted a community pep rally with a trunk-or-treat.
Emerson was one of six Frisco ISD high schools open to in-district transfers for incoming ninth graders in 2026-27, a list limited to campuses below 90% of projected capacity. Transfers are not guaranteed and parents handle transportation.
Emerson, Wortham, Scoggins and the Comstock and Elliott elementary schools were all on the district's October 2026 list for fare-based busing ($500 per student for 2026-27, $175 on free or reduced meals). Comstock and Elliott were two of only four elementary schools on that list.
