Prairie Oaks is a newer neighborhood near US 380 on the north side of the Oak Point area. Homes went up here from about 2019, built by D.R. Horton and Perry Homes among others, and D.R. Horton was still selling new homes from $349,990 in October 2026. It fits first-time and move-up buyers who want a 2019-or-newer home in Denton ISD at a price below many lakeside communities nearby.

The lesson here is the address. Newer D.R. Horton sections carry Oak Point addresses, earlier Phase 1B homes are listed with Little Elm addresses, and a 2021 Denton County map labeled the area unincorporated.
