Downtown Carrollton is the city's historic core near I-35E and Belt Line Road, anchored by the historic square and the Downtown Carrollton station, which has served the DART Green Line since December 2010 and the Silver Line to DFW Airport since October 25, 2025. Housing around it mixes older homes with newer transit-oriented apartments such as Union at Carrollton Square, 311 units completed in 2012 and 2014 by High Street Residential with the city. Landmarks include the 110-foot Blanton grain silos, built in 1950 and named a city historic landmark in 2010, and the 1924 MKT depot.
The lesson here is that rail access works both ways. Being able to walk to two rail lines is a real draw for commuters and airport travelers, while homes right beside the tracks can carry train noise that some buyers discount. If you are buying, visit at rush hour before you offer.
